Japan has been broadcasting in full 4K for a few years so it was no surprise when we received a call from NHK TV, their National broadcasting network. They were filming a documentary at multiple location here in the US and needed to fly the RED Epic in 5K. They had been searching for a drone company that could provide them with stable footage from this camera platform and we were able to provide it.
Flying in challenging conditions that included wind, rain and even sun glare was no issue for us. The last scene we filmed was planned to have ADR (automated dialogue replacement) done in post and even that went off without any issues.
Our custom 1000mm octocopter flew a variety of lenses at the production companies request and we provided an HD downlink for the producer/director as well as our camera operator.
